Published: 10th September 2008 23:36

 Molton Festival

London's hottest new festival, Molten Festival 2008, will be turning up the heat this Autumn, bringing celebrity acts, top local talent and masses of free arts activities to the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

There's something for everyone, from The Blockheads to pottery classes, from choirs to stand up comedy, from folk superstars to Grime artists, everyone is invited to join in the party.

Molten Festival 2008 is packed full of accessible arts activities, workshops, outdoor spectacular events, fireworks, giant mechanical birds, human Catherine wheels and bandstand music. In addition to the street theatre and free events, Molten Festival 2008 will present four massive variety shows at the Broadway Theatre, Barking, taking place each Sunday throughout October.

Sara Doctors, Molten Festival Producer, said: "Molten Festival is the highlight of the Borough's cultural calendar and this year's Festival will be our biggest and best yet. Molten 'hotspots' will be popping up all across Barking and Dagenham, bring top international performers to a street near you. The Festival starts with a spectacular firework show in Barking Town Square at sunset on Friday 26th September, followed by a weekend of free arts activities for everyone to enjoy. Barking and Dagenham is the place to be this Autumn - get involved!"

Councillor Bob Little, Executive Member for Leisure, Arts and Events said: "I'm sure this year's Molten festival will be a huge hit with residents. The sheer diversity of the acts means everyone will have something to look forward to - and get involved in.

"Barking and Dagenham possess a huge pool of artistic talent and this unique festival will also give many local acts the chance to perform live for the very first time, which in itself is a great boost for the community."

Molten Festival 2008 will be opening up the arts to the public, making high quality arts fun and accessible and encouraging pride in the Borough's cultural heritage.
