The Safer Stockport Partnership (SSP) is inviting people to attend a community event on Tuesday 13th January to try and stem the traditional rise in burglaries in the New Year. Stockport Council's services in ensuring children and young people 'stay safe' and are 'making a positive contribution' both received an 'Outstanding' Grade 4 from Ofsted inspectors. Stockport was one of only 14 local authorities out of 150 nationally to receive the top grade for staying safe, placing the Council in the top 10% in the UK.

A brand new scheme called 'All Together Active' (A2A), which aims to support families with overweight children, is being launched by Stockport Council and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. The project offers personal support to families through one-to-one workshops and fun physical activity sessions.

Stockport Council has recently signed up to a free new service to help library users keep track of when books are due for return. Library Elf, hosted by a third party website, sends emails to customers reminding them to return or renew books before the date they are due back.

Stockport Council's fostered children and their foster families enjoyed a fabulous Christmas Party at Edgeley Park. Nearly 200 children came along to the party on Tuesday 2nd December, which was jointly organised by Stockport Foster Carers Association (SFCA) and the Council.
