Stockport Walking and Outdoor Group

Stockport Walking and Outdoor GroupOn 18th April 2007 Stockport YHA Local Group changed their name to Stockport Walking & Outdoor Group.


They remain affiliated to the YHA (England & Wales) Ltd.

Stockport Walking & Outdoor Group is a multi-activity group with individual members aged 18 to 50+ as well as a number of families. They are affiliated to the YHA (England and Wales) Ltd.

Stockport walking Group photoTo help defray the running costs of the Group (e.g. insurance cover, programme publishing, room hire, speaker fees, etc) the annual subscription of £5 per person is collected in January each year. Under 18's are included in the parent's membership free of charge.

New faces are always welcome ... just go along to any of the events:

    See the programme for details of the starting point.
    All walks start at 7.30pm (prompt) unless otherwise stated

Admission is £1 (and includes tea), free on your first visit.
                                                             The Grapes public house is visited after the meeting

Sunday Walks
Unless otherwise stated meet at the Car Park in Torkington Park, Hazel Grove, which is opposite the Rising Stockport Walking group photoSun pub, at 9.30am.
The grid reference is 926865.
Occasionally there is a stop at a pub for lunch but often not. Therefore it is essential to bring a packed lunch and a drink.
Transport and petrol costs are shared from Torkington Park Car Park.

Cycle Rides
Please meet at the start point - contact the leader for details.
There is usually a pub stop at lunchtime, but not all pubs serve food so please bring a packed lunch.

Weekends
To book for a weekend please contact the weekend organiser.
Full payment may be required at the time of booking and cancellation charges may be applied in line with the booking rules of the hostels.
A small administration fee may be levied for each booking.

Pub Nights
We also have an informal gathering most Friday nights in a local pub.
Meet approximately 9pm.

Other Activities are arranged from time to time and will be published on the website and in the programme. These may include: Theatre trips, Meals, Canoeing, Barbecues, Cinema visits, Skiing Holidays
